Synaplex
Synaplex™, like the choices you might find in a “Cineplex” is a unique way to celebrate simultaneously the many authentic expressions of Judaism – learning, culture, and gathering, as well as prayer.
At Shir Ami, Synaplex Friday night includes spiritual, religious, ritual, cultural and social/secular choices to engage family members of all ages. These engergetic Shabbat eveings are about choice and community. Families often remark that Synaplex at Shir Ami allows everyone to be part of something wonderfully energizing. Not only will you find yourself fulfilled with worship and purpose, but you’ll meet new people, spend time with friends that you already know, and be a part of the synagogue community.
What is Synaplex?
Synaplex™ started in 2003 with a pilot project involving 11 synagogues to create engaging Shabbat programming choices. Today, dozens of congregations across the country participate in regualr Synaplex™ structures, spanning from Connecticut to California.
Synaplex™ is an initiative of STAR (Synagogues:Transformation and Renewal) and is a philanthropic partnership of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, JewishLife Network/Steinhardt Foundation and The Samuel Bronfman Foundation.
Many worshipers today seek flexibility and choice in their temples. This program is designed to transform the contemporary American synagogue from a static institution to one that is relevant, inspirational and significant. The vision of Synaplex™ is for synagogues to grow with people as they evolve over time, instead of allowing people to grow out of them. Synagogues provide lifelong opportunities for Jewish living, learning and celebration and place a premium on being part of a pluralistic, multi-generational community.
If you would like to be involved in creating Synaplex™ programming at Shir Ami, please call the Shir Ami office.
