As the kids get older, we work hard to provide opportunities for Jewish youth to participate in events that will lead them toward our Sr. SHAFTY group. Jr. SHAFTY offers great fun and socialization coupled with important hands-on experience in fundraising projects, religious and cultural awareness, and interaction with other youth group members from the area.  In fact, some past members of Jr. SHAFTY currently hold executive positions on our Sr. SHAFTY board. A ski trip, the always popular “lock-in” at Ultrazone, outings to professional sporting events, rock climbing, and a fun-filled day at an amusement park are among the great events planned monthly. Also, Jr. SHAFTY members can elect to work our “canteen” during Wednesday Midrasha, and earn service credits for attending our youth-led “Blue Jeans” Shabbat.  And, special for our 8th grade members is the opportunity to part of the FLASH (Future Leaders at SHAFTY) -- a group of kids who begin learning what it means to have a say in making important decisions.
