Shafty is… Shir Ami Federation of Temple Youth, one of the largest and most exciting youth groups in the region. SHAFTY is comprised of four separate units that range from third through twelfth grade, so that children of all ages can participate in a variety of social events that keep them active with other Jewish kids. We invite your child to join the group appropriate to his or her age and get in on all the fun!

Shafty offers… a social forum for Jewish children outside of the secular classroom. The SHAFTY program is open to all Jewish youth, whether or not their families are members of Shir Ami.  Each one of our four youth groups is structured in accordance to the appropriate age level, and incorporates a balance between religious experiences, mitzvah projects, activities and entertainment. Here your child begins the process of becoming the leaders of tomorrow in the Jewish community, while making lasting friendships.

And it’s ONLY FOR KIDS!  A place to just hang out…For those who haven’t been here, come check out the SHAFTY Youth Lounge — Shir Ami’s popular meeting place.  A beautiful mural depicting Ben Yehuda Street adorns the far wall of the large, welcoming room. This special place is filled with comfortable sofas, chairs, a computer, an information bulletin board, foosball, air hockey and a television.  You’ll find the Youth Lounge is used for a variety of activities, meetings, parties, and just hanging out.  SHAFTY members are welcome any time the lounge is open, offering a great opportunity to play games, access the computer, get crisis information, study, socialize, eat, and more.  Kids find it’s a great place to meet up before class!

•  Chalutzim ( grades 3 and 4 )
•  Bonim  ( grades 5 and 6 )
•  Junior SHAFTY  ( grades 7 and 8 )
•  Senior SHAFTY  ( grades 9 thru 12 )
